Ibotta (iOS and Android)
If you don’t mind putting in a bit of time and effort, Ibotta can get you big long-term savings on routine shopping items like groceries and home supplies.

Ibotta isn’t exactly a “coupon” app per se, but using it consistently is still a great way to save a lot of money on things that you were already planning on buying anyway.
The idea is that rather than offering direct discounts at the point of sale, Ibotta offers cash-back rebates on your purchases, which can be redeemed later. All deals feature a cash-back value amount, which gets added to your account after you purchase the items and scan your receipt. Once your accumulated cash back amount reaches or exceeds $20, you can redeem your earnings through PayPal, Venmo, or via a gift card to one of MANY retailers.
The Ibotta app is simple to navigate and makes it easy to browse deals and add them to your shopping list. Plus, the deals are actually pretty good! During our first test of Ibotta, we were able to snag nearly $10 in cash-back value for a $45 shopping trip — a whopping 22% off. This means that it is theoretically not very difficult to reach the minimum cash-back redemption amount of $20 within just one or two shopping trips (depending on what you buy and the size of your household, of course.)
This model does have its downsides. The cash-back system means that you won’t see any savings immediately, and you will still need to pay full price for all of your items at the time of purchase. Not everyone will be able to work around these caveats. But for those who can, the long-term savings potential is quite high.
Bottom line is, if you use Ibotta and stick mainly to your routine shopping list items, you’re basically getting free money. And by using other coupons and loyalty cards in conjunction with Ibotta deals, you can get even bigger savings.
